KEVIN W. GAUGHEN 1954 - 2019

Kevin Gaughen’s driving influence on Gaughen, Gaughen, Lane & Hernando, LLP cannot be understated. He joined his brother and father in the practice of law from the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office after serving in the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office, serving the counties of Barnstable, Nantucket and Dukes (Martha’s Vineyard). He was a 1976 graduate of Georgetown University and a 1979 graduate of Suffolk University Law School.

Kevin served as General Counsel for the East Weymouth Savings Bank and Hingham Institution for Savings. He served as a director of various statewide professional and civic groups and as an advisor to various charitable organizations. For his accomplishments and as a recognition of his years of service to the legal profession Suffolk University Law School has selected the book Reimagining Advocacy: Rhetorical Education in the Legal Clinic by Elizabeth C. Bruitt to be added to the law library in his memory.

Kevin Gaughen oversaw the expansion of Gaughen, Gaughen, Lane & Hernando from a small general practice firm to the number one agent for Commonwealth Land Title, Boston in the Commercial/Residential areas. He mentored each of the attorneys who practiced in the firm and his intelligence and insight will be missed by all. He enhanced and improved the legacy established by his father. His wisdom and vision guided the next generation and molded each one into a better, more effective lawyer. His many contributions will be sorely missed but live on through his nephews and sons.
